 Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become licensed?

In addition to completing the 60 Hour Broker Pre-license Topics and the 15 hour Broker Pre-license Applied Real Estate Principles Interactive, Brokers are required to meet the following conditions*:

  • Be 18 years of age

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (G.E.D.)

  • Pass the State Licensing Exam which is two parts: state and national questions

  • Be sponsored by a licensed Broker

*There are some exceptions to the requirements.  Please check the Candidate Handbook for Real Estate located here

Where do I start?

Enroll in our Pre-License courses to complete Illinois' 75-hour, two-course pre-license education requirement. Offered three times a year in a live, engaging classroom setting, these courses feature regularly updated materials to ensure the instruction is meaningful, relevant, and up to date.

Absentees Requirements

State law allows a maximum of 10% absence for the required 75 hours. Our school policy requires that any missed time within that allowance be made up. Students must schedule a separate session with an instructor to complete the missed hours.

What if I change my mind?

For our on-site course, a full refund is available if written notice of cancellation is received at least two days before the class start date.

No refunds will be issued once the class has begun. Refunds are not available for the online course.

What happens if I don't feel prepared for state test?

If you're enrolled in the on-site course, you may retake the class once within one year for a $100 fee. If you start the online course and later feel that an in-person classroom setting would better support your learning, you can transfer into the next available on-site session within one year for a $150 fee, based on space availability.

What happens after I finish the courses?

After completing the courses, you will be prepared to take the licensing exam, which consists of two parts: state and national questions. These proctored exams are administered at a testing facility. Once you pass both sections and select a brokerage to affiliate with, you will be eligible to apply for your license through the state.

When can I start working in the industry?

After selecting a brokerage, applying to and being approved by the IDFPR, and receiving your official license, your brokerage will guide you through the next steps—helping you get onboarded, familiarized with the industry and your company, and starting your book of business.
